oh my i actually remembered my blogger password. not gonna tell any you ppl though.
it has been.. around 5 months and 21 days since my last blog.
'removed broken links'. haha.
slept this afternoon so i dont have the mood to sleep yet. best thing to do if u cant sleep is to tire yourself to sleep. hence my blogging.
quite a few things to blog about.
1) O level Oral.
my very very very first O [Ordinary] level exam. and it turned out great. well better than i dreamt it'd be. in a dream i had two nights before the actual exam, i dreamt i couldnt read/pronounce the words in the passage given to me during the actual o level exam and if you know me well my dreams have a [bad] habit of coming true. paranoia.
having the hall [with the old out of tune black shaky yamaha piano at the side of the stage in it] open was quite a fortune. to calm my nerves, i went to play a bit. jammed out. and i actually had an audience! well that helped. after that i went backstage to the changing room to seek solace from the buzz of the school. i was accompanied by Mr Iliyasa Ong, who was to take the same oral exam on the same day. apparently the male changing room was locked. so.. =P in the changing room i took a short nap while Iliyasa went to walk around and climb the back of the hall. there's a spectacular view of the school's side gate from the top of the backstage. few ppl've been there and experienced that view. personally i think its a great vantage point for any sniper.
then we were escorted to the holding room, where i was struggling to contain my nerve. again came Iliyasa to the rescue. we sat at the corner side of the room and started philosophising. about what u may ask? anything worth philosophising about. that helped too. finally i went crazy and starting showing off my Quidditch skills on the class broom. i named it [rather appropriately], the Nimbus 2454. that was it. i was happy, care-free and most importantly ready for the oral examination. in the right mindset.
after my 10 minutes reading the passage and examining the black and white picture, the examiners in the examination room motioned at me to make my entrance. i read my passage, making rather exaggerated changes in pitch when certain characters spoke. the passage, by the way, was about some camping trip and some girl stood up to become the unofficial leader and all her friends got fed up with her. the picture was about a few primary school kids setting up a tent in the middle of a football field. did that pretty well too. not much mistake. finally the conversation part came and they asked me what qualities i would expect in a leader and on what are my views on the quote 'some people are born leaders while others are born to be led'. for the second question i used the phrase 'leaders in primary school may face segregation from their friends and peers.' after i said that i was thinking 'what the hell is the meaning of segregation?!' i just carried on though. thanked the examiners and made a hasty exit.
well i think a distinction's in the bag for me. how high a distinction? not very sure but i thought that the oral was pretty simple. oh yes i met my examiner in pasir ris crest secondary during MEP this week. stay tuned for more.
