happy new year to one and all. boy am i glad 2005's over. been an arduous, torrid year for me. to put it simply, 2005 was shit.

but hey. i'm stronger now. not only physically, but mentally too. more than that, i actually have planned my life out. i have lowered my expectations of myself and i am actually finding myself much more contented. have i said all this in my previous post? apropos to my life plan, the planning was greatly helped by 'my' decision to enter the arts stream. so much less choices now. a survey done by (dont know where i read it somewhere before) demonstrated that 'more choice need not necessarily mean more satisfaction'.

in that survey, or experiment rather, subjects were separated into two consumer groups with one group having 6 choices of goods and the other having 24. it went something like that, and the former group's members were reported to have been more satisfied with their chosen good than the latter's. i do not know how they measured satisfaction but the situation i'm in now seems to echo the experiment.

had i chosen to go to the science stream, i would have had access to a currently inaccessible plethora of career choices. that is supposed to be good, right? well i feel that would have been an ideal situation. but i am in the arts stream taking subjects i never dreamed of doing, leading me to courses that i do not ever want to do, leaving me with extremely limited choice. henceforth, 30 years down the road, i hope i will be contented.

anyways. tonight i went blog hopping and once again the sheer density of singapore's population was evident in the amount of bloggers whom i found out i actually knew. i think i added around 3 out of the many i found.

on a less serious note, i seriously look forward to 2006. its already the 1st of january! the year is staring me right in the face. and my tongue's out. nyah!
