when you stare upon a corpse, a former member of society, now past its time and purpose, what are the thoughts that are travelling through your mind?

for me, it was a classic case of cognitive dissonance, probably from my lack of experience in dealing with dead people. i attended a funeral wake last week. looking at the lifeless corpse all dolled up in her pretty coffin, i could not help but expect it to respond to the many pairs of eyes fixated upon it. i mean, how can one not wake up when there are 10 people staring at you from above, talking loudly?

then the logic took over (or rather, re-surfaced) when i stood there, after thoroughly inspecting the corpse, affirmed. the corpse Was dead, lifeless, and it would not respond in any way.

i don't have much experience with death, though my dull, colourless, and rather lifeless blog seems to imply other wise. death by old age is the culmination of human degeneration, resulting in the eventual ceasing functionality of the human body, and consequently mind. humans, seeing themselves as superior to their organic counterparts, and as sentient beings, want to think that they are special. they want to see beyond that plain reality that is death and no life. as a result, we have religion and all sorts of explanations for what happens after this phenomenon. they will never know what will happen after death and how they came about as there is no hard evidence to satisfy our senses and to provide a solid ground for argument. like a child in a dark room, who is not able to use his sight to detect what may be potentially harmful, humans come up with a proxy 'light' to cover up their innate fears.

therefore i say, know more, friends. study hard, for knowledge is less fear. ha ha. alright time for 100m heats. i think i must cut down on my commitments. gendobli!
