SAJC HOCKEY WON!!!

so happy for my friends Hanis and Johann and whoever else is in the hockey team that know but did not praise. this must be a double blow for the victory-weary Rafflesians!

I LOVE TEAM SAJC! now where's my halfday?

SAJC RUGBY WON!!

i shall never make predictions concerning Team Sajc ever again. when they beat acjc in the semis i was skeptical and blamed it on the good ac ruggers entering the IB programme, like the bowlers. but this is no joke. '15-10. was amazing. penalty to us, then rj scored two tries with missed conversions then we equalised. khairul tried and malcolm converted. then in the last min someone in the ruck scored! it was exhilarating!'

no i do not play rugby and i did not say that. kelly a41 (former scgs forgot her surname) said it. haha. life goes on..

the previous post was he concert review i sent in to the Toto website after watching their performance at Fort Canning Park on the 16th of May. meant every word man.

school's getting tough. study fatigue is setting in. the band concert and guitar night, however, are over! you don't know how much i enjoyed myself. that was my first proper band concert and as for guitar night, i've been there done that, but it was nonetheless an exhilirating experience, playing live. it was there that i realised in the importance of a good microphone set up for your drums. haha.

something has propped up, though. i will be sacrificing (if you want to put it that way) the first week of my June holidays to go to Perth,Australia with the j1s of the sajccb! imagine playing drums everyday for 7 days in Australia? that is a dream come true, really. though i was slightly apprehensive at first, careful though and a little bit of help (hehe) from the heavy subsidy removed whatever apprehension i initially had about going. you see, i had initially planned on following the outdoor activities club to Mount Kinabalu (i have some.. unfinished business to settle there), but i guess Mount Kinabalu can wait as you don't get the chance to go overseas, performing with a concert band, very often. i probably will not be able to get that chance again ever in my lifetime. same goes for the upcoming concert at the esplanade concert hall (august 6th ah remember ah).

despite my fatigue, 2006 has been and would have been the most fulfilling year of my life, so far. NS's next. hurrah!

I used to think that Toto was the usual pop band out to make profits. Then I started to change my mind after watching the Live In Amsterdam video cd and on the 16th May, I stood corrected at Fort Canning Park!

By far the tightest, grooviest and most powerful band I have ever come across, Toto has managed to successfully (I quote successfully) fuse the popular with sheer musicianship and sophistry. Being one who listens to heavy fusion, I was skeptical of the performance, performance venue and honestly expected a bore. Glad to say, I was pleasantly surprised with the clever and refreshing arranegments of some of their music! I am now compelled to get my hands on Falling In Between, too.

Toto looked very natural on stage, performing with unmatched enthusiasm, despite the well-known fact that they've probably performed the songs on the Singapore set hundreds and hundreds of times (think Rosanna, Hold the Line, Stop Loving You, I Won't Hold You Back, Africa).

Quote: 'Simon Freakin' Phillips!' - Greg Philinganes. Even after having seen him at the recent clinic he held here, I was still stunned by Simon Phillips' drumming, which combined technicality with sheer musicianship, the hallmark of a master of any instrument. As a matter of fact, the aforementioned qualities probably, no, absolutely hold true for every member of Toto!

All in all, very inspirational. Without Toto, I probably would not have been able to make it through my life in a junior college. Nothing like a can of Toto to revitalise the soul. Come back soon, sirs!
